11 Pre-Christmas Shopping Tips to Live By
December 7th 2009
Every year, no matter how early we start our pre-Christmas shopping, there area few presents we always forget. In the midst of a shopping spree, don't be in a hurry to avoid stress and "slip-of-the-mind" effect. Don't join those people who scramble and scurry. Have time to stall... wander around and enjoy an impromptu window shopping.- Think of the opposite gifts that are easier to buy, easier to wrap and most importantly, meaningful to the receiver.
- The fewer the gifts, the more joy there is to save. The first step is to visit rummage or bazaar sales and other curios. Buy ONE memorable gift for a family that everyone could enjoy-and use.
- Avoid the last day hullabaloos. Fifty percent mistakes result from shopping a day before Christmas. This kind of rush often result to stress, you know.
- Go slow and stick to a must-have-list. It's not only economical, but it minimizes tearing up and down the mall's basement to the top floor.
- Forgo Christmas wrappers and make your personalized gift wrap. Use ribbons, ruffia and insert a poinsettia or fresh, green leaves. It's a Christmas novelty!
- Buy festive patterned paper plates, cups and glasses. It will save your energy from washing dishes during the Holiday party, don't you think so?
- Have a little breather in-between shopping time. Find a cozy place in the mall where you can rest and relax and... eat! Cold soft drink is a kind of "refreshing recharge" that quenches your thirst before shopping again. That's calming your nerves.
- Be careful with your purse. Holiday shoppers are prey to numerous snatchers and slashers. Avoid carrying bulging, big bags. Keep your bag or purse close to your body and hold it tightly.
- Check your items and be sure you do not leave any of them inside the taxi. Remember the name and plate numbers of any vehicle you ride in for safety measure.
- Buy something to eat when you reach home like donut, pizza or burger sandwich. Then combine it with a warm shower and loose, comfy clothes to complete pampering yourself.
- Sip your fave drink while you raise your feet on a pillow. Wear your "loftiest" slippers and "cut off" from the world of shoppers you've just passed by. After all, your very dearest feet deserve some rest, too.
