Christmas Dangers

There are several Christmas dangers that most people aren't aware of, but need to be adhered to lest danger befall an unsuspecting family. This short article should not scare you, but it should advise you to take certain precautions in the Christmas season that you wouldn't normally take. Read on at your own discretion. Inform your children of these tips if you feel the need to preparde them for the unforeseen dangers of Christmas and the season that everyone knows as the merry time of the year, but some people fear. Christmas can be cheerful and merry or weird and scary. Let's find out why and how below.

First of all, Christmas is a time when robbers, burglars, and gangs see the opportunity to break into homes because families are away for the holidays. Don't leave newspapers stacked out front, put a decoy car in the driveway, and leave lights and television sets on in the house. In addition, some criminals are so eager that they will even rob a house with the family inside. The Christmas presents represent a large take for the criminal enterprise because there are video game consoles, consumer electronics, and designer clothes. Make sure that you prepare yourself for any possible Christmas Eve criminals. Secondly, with all the ruckus and distraction of Christmas shopping, your child can get lost in the crowd and picked up by a stranger.

Thirdly, some people that live alone experience emotional trauma and mental sadness during the holiday season because it impresses their loneliness upon them especially when everyone else is celebrating with their families. Suicides take a deadly turn for the worst and spike in the holiday season. Make sure to invite someone into your home that is lonely that you also know is safe. Fourthly, wrapping paper, the artificial tree, packaging material and Christmas food can pose a danger to the family pet that poses a choking hazard or toxic reaction. Fifth, glass items and other delicate ornaments can get knocked down or fall over and break causing potential deadly artery-splitting injuries that can put one or more family members in the hospital.

Sixth, all the drunkenness of the holiday season can cause some driver to hit an unsuspecting family playing out in the snow or out on the ice. Don't play outside at night, especially after late-night neighborhood gatherings and parties. Seventh, the Christmas tree can catch on the fire, or any other part of the house, if the Christmas lights are worn out. Be certain to purchase the newest Christmas lights so that the family is in no danger of an unsuspected Christmas house fire that could cause the whole Christmas celebration to go up in smoke and lose its cheer in a minute!

Eighth, don't pack up pets as Christmas presents without putting air holes in the box, and don't pack them up for more than a couple of hours because of their eating, water, and bathroom needs.
